Car Wash

Whistle Carwash
Graham, NC

This was one of OnSite’s first two-story washes for Wave Wash, which was later acquired by Whistle. The larger lot had extra space along the side street for possible future use, but its L-shape and nearby residential properties made the layout challenging. A two-story design preserved the 75-foot buffer next to the adjacent residential and kept the site functional. A single row of 19 vacuum stalls along the building allowed a driveway from Main Street, and the wet pond in back was sized to support future development.

Jay's Carwash
Atlanta, Georgia

At just 0.61 acres, this is the smallest site OnSite has developed with a full-length building and paystations. It required creative use of narrow side setbacks, a stem wall along the building, and a retaining wall wrapping most of the lot to make it work. This location was formerly a hand spray wash that sat down below the road. The owner had visions of converting this site into an express wash.  City of Atlanta  zoning requlations required the internal drives to stay behind the front building line. OnSite solved this by shifting the non-tunnel side of the modular building closer to the main road, creating a unique and efficient layout for the 105' tunnel and 19 vacuum spaces.

Jimmy Clean's
High Point, North Carolina

Jimmy Cleans was recognized for its old-school branding and the distinctive large fin feature on its buildings. The brand operated several North Carolina locations before being acquired by Driven Brands. OnSite served as the civil engineer for all locations.  All tunnels are at least 150 feet and include three paystations. The High Point site features an impressive 35 vacuum spaces, with 18 located under a canopy.

Papa Bear Carwash
Greenville, SC

This site began as a full-service carwash from the 1960s, complete with fuel pumps and a large finishing area along Wade Hampton. The fuel area was converted to three paystations, and the old lobby and office were removed. To extend the tunnel, 20 feet were added at the entry and 50 feet at the exit, creating a 205-foot tunnel — currently the longest carwash in the Southeast! The site also features 3 paystations and 31 customer vacuum spaces.

Clean Wheels Carwash
Greensboro, North Carolina

This site was previously a hand spray wash with multiple driveways on E. Wendover and Raleigh Ave. The client demolished the old wash to build an express tunnel with numerous vacuums, but development codes limited the layout options. Challenges included cross-access requirements with the neighboring gas station, a buffer zone along residential property in the rear, and site driveway restrictions from NCDOT and Greensboro on E. Wendover Ave. The final design went through many revisions and required extensive coordination with the City and NCDOT. The resultant mini tunnel and laser wash share an equipment room and reclaim system, requiring careful collaboration between two equipment companies, the general contractor, and architect. This increased coordination on the front end minimized construction issues during the build.

Rocket Carwash
Raleigh, North Carolina

This property faced a few challenges in its redevelopment for an express wash. The site , originally a hand-bay carwash built in the 1960's.  It was too narrow for a single-story layout with enough vacuum spaces, making a two-story design necessary to function as a modern wash site with paystations and vacuum spaces. The project also had to meet rear shared access requirements, strict driveway rules from NCDOT and the City of Raleigh, and a City zoning code with a "build-to" requirement. Close coordination with the architect and City staff helped fit these pieces together and create a functional traffic and site plan for the client with a 100' long tunnel and 21 vacuum spaces
